How it all started

To capture images of jewels deep in their interiors became a passion for me and the foundation for my photo art.

Everything started for two reasons. My two sons inherited a microscope from my parents that they had used in their medical practice in the 1970s and 1980s. It mostly stood there and collected dust until the autumn of 2015 when I got the idea to gather a treasure! I mean a real pirate treasure, one with gold, precious stones and jewelery.

My kids thought I was crazy but I bought some gems, including the ruby I call Ruby Heart. Pretty soon, I pulled out the microscope and wanted to look at my ruby. What opened up in front of me was an amazing world of formations, canyons, secret passages and dreamy landscapes. All in all a wonderful imagination that could be photographed!

With time, I refined my technique and the results are shown in my photos. Gemstones have always fascinated people and many of the stones we enjoy today have been here since the beginning of time. Which stones are included in the exclusive group of gemstones change depending on supply, demand and shifts in fashion.
